The two founding members of the band, Mark Hockings and Richard Silverthorn, open up in deeply honest interviews. There is more than one way to listen to BEBORN BETON's ninth album "Darkness Falls Again": it is possible to just dance and enjoy contemporary synth pop hymns that have a solid musical based in the golden 80s with a dash of cool 90s influences. Catchy tunes and mature songwriting combine to form a sonic joyride. Yet BEBORN BETON also put their finger right on the pulse of our time and speak out against misogyny, sexual discrimination, and environmental destruction. BEBORN BETON were founded by vocalist Stefan Netschio, keyboard player and drummer Stefan Tillmann, and keyboard player Michael Wagner in 1989. The trio set out with the declared aim to keep synth pop relevant and give it meaning. Following their first two regular albums "Tybalt" (1993) and "Concrete Ground" (1994), BEBORN BETON joined renowned acts such as WOLFSHEIM and DE/VISION in a new label home. Having conquered Germany, the three electro-musicians rapidly expanded their realm abroad with the 1996 full-length "Nightfall", followed by "Truth" in 1997, and "Fake" (1999) that gained the Germans international acclaim by critics and fans alike. By the time, "Rückkehr zum Eisplaneten" ('Return to the Ice-Planet') was released in 2000, BEBORN BETON had firmly positioned themselves as a headlining act within their scene and toured all the strongholds of electronic music. Yet heavy touring and the highly demanding creative output of so many excellent albums in quick succession took their toll. After the release of "Tales from Another World" (2002) and an exhausting US tour, BEBORN BETON went on an extended hiatus. 13 years later, BEBORN BETON returned with a new album on Dependent Recordings to the delight and surprise of their still huge following. IRIS are dead, long live IRIS! Although Andrew Sega and Reagan Jones have officially announced to part amicably at the end of last year, their many adherents do not need to fall into despair.
With the band's expressed consent, Dependent will reissue the long out-of-print third album "Wrath" in two special editions. This pinnacle out of IRIS' impressive catalogue will be released with a new mastering for the first time as a limited 12" vinyl with improved, high-resolution cover artwork. "Wrath" will also re-appear in the shape of a must-have limited edition double CD artbook, containing the remastered album, an exclusive 10-track bonus CD, live photos and liner notes by J. Ned Kirby (STROMKERN) and Dependent founder Stefan Herwig.
J. Ned Kirby, who has supported IRIS live on tour several times, sheds an inside view on the reasons for the reissue of "Wrath": "Each individual album by Iris represents a post-grad course in songwriting and production," the American writes. "Yet with its ten incomparable arrangements for ten perfect songs, 'Wrath' achieves the level of a masterclass. From the explosive opening through 'Land of Fire' to the hopeful coda of 'Delivered One', this is what a band firing from all guns sounds like. On 'Wrath', no element is out of place, no chord is too ordinary, and no song is too long even a second. Or in short: this album is fantastic!"
On 'Wrath', IRIS fused their concise sound design with increasingly prominent guitars for the first time in order to create outstanding songs. This, combined with Reagan Jones' distinctive vocals, resulted in a shoegaze-effect that set IRIS a world apart from the grey mass of random synthpop acts. With the lavish re-release of "Wrath", Dependent pay tribute to an excellent album that has lost nothing of its original fascination even after 15 years.

"The Machine in the Ghost" marks HAUJOBB's impressive tenth studio album that is again different from all its predecessors. The Leipzig based duo plainly refuses to do the same thing twice. What sets "The Machine in the Ghost" apart is the prominent use of fieldwork recordings to create the sounds for this album. To achieve the desired effects, HAUJOBB used a mix of software and hardware – the latter in the shape of everyday items. This deliberate nod to a time with less software and more analogue shifting of the dials complements the theme of "The Machine in the Ghost" with a retro touch, yet without indulging in mere nostalgia for its own sake. The album revolves around the highly charged relationship between mind and matter, analogue and digital. When HAUJOBB were founded as a trio in the West German city of Bielefeld, their main influences came from the Vancouver school of industrial, in particular SKINNY PUPPY and FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY. This is audible on their early full-length "Homes & Gardens" (1993), but it did not take HAUJOBB long to become themselves regarded as figureheads of a modern electronic industrial sound. On the following albums, "Freeze Frame Reality" (1995) and "Solutions for a Small Planet" (1996), the Germans moved away from their Canadian roots and began to amalgamate IDM (intelligent dance music) with industrial and EBM. This catapulted the Germans onto the international scene and gained them cult status in the US. After HAUJOBB became a duo, they continued to have a strong impact and in particular their 2011 self-released album "New World March" is widely regarded as another milestone. With "The Machine in the Ghost", HAUJOBB have created another exciting chapter in their remarkable career. At the very beginning of the next industrial and creative revolution ignited by the furious rise of artificial intelligence, HAUJOBB still have their metaphorical musical fingers right on the pulse of time.

When Andreas Catjar-Danielsson left this world in the very early morning of July 29, 2024, it still came as a shock to his relatives and friends including his former band mates in COVENANT. Although the musicians had known for a while that their beloved friend and colleague was losing his epic struggle with cancer, the realisation of it actually happening landed with such a massive impact that nobody ever could have prepared for. Exactly a year after this dreadful day, COVENANT have announced the "Andreas EP", which is the Swedes' first release in nearly a decade. The EP is a tribute to the dear friend and colleague lost but also intended for charity as all proceeds will be going to Andreas Catjar-Danielsson's widow and their two children. "Andreas EP" contains five experimental tracks including two cover versions by YAZOO ('Winter Kills') and LEE HAZLEWOOD ('A Rider on a White Horse'). COVENANT were conceived in the city of Helsingborg in Sweden's southernmost province of Skåne, only a short boat trip away from Helsingør on the Danish side of the water in 1988 by a bunch of young lads that were inspired by the flourishing scene of European electronic music spearheaded by bands such as DEPECHE MODE, KRAFTWERK, THE HUMAN LEAGUE, and FRONT 242 to name but a few. COVENANT chose their name as a symbol of the especially strong bond of friendship that they shared. Throughout their outstanding career, which is currently spanning nine acclaimed studio full-lengths and two live albums, COVENANT have always moved forward, searched for new exciting ways of expression, and pushed the boundaries of electronic music. Emotional intelligence combined with excellent musical craftsmanship, and a knack for catchy tunes has brought the Northern Europeans to the forefront of electronic music and made them a household name of the scene. ROTERSAND's defining classics "Truth Is Fanatic" (2003) and "Welcome to Goodbye" (2005) are being reissued by Dependent as limited edition double vinyl albums and as luxurious artbooks with numerous bonus tracks. These included the 'lost' demo "Summer 02" and single "Dark Raver", which are both officially released for the first time on "Truth Is Fanatic". The famous "Exterminate Annihilate Destroy" single and celebrated live performance from the DNA Lounge in San Francisco as US-tour support for COVENANT constitute the bonus material of “Welcome to Goodbye”. ROTERSAND detonated onto the German scene seemingly out of nowhere in the early new millennium. Named after an iconic red-and-white banded old lighthouse that used to guide ships in the German Bight, ROTERSAND left the impression of being downright omnipresent. ROTERSAND were formed in 2002 by former THE FAIR SEX bassist Rascal aka Rasc, who moved to the frontman position and joined forces with multi-instrumentalist and lyricist Gunther 'Gun' Gerl. The duo's first 4-track demo, simply called "Summer 02", soon circulated widely within underground electro circles and even found its way into the clubs. Soon after the demo release, Krischan J. E. Wesenberg joined the ROTERSAND crew. The DJ, sound engineer, and producer soon proved to be the perfect choice to give those rough song gems new facets and to make them sparkle and shine. One year later, ROTERSAND's debut full-length "Truth Is Fanatic" (2003) hit the stores and clubs. With their catchy fusion of EBM, dance music, and 80s pop, ROTERSAND had perfectly captured the vibe of the times. The album's massive production, outstanding songwriting, and meaningful lyrics took care of the rest. The German's follow-up, "Welcome to Goodbye'' was released on Dependent in 2005 and easily surpassed the early success of the debut. ROTERSAND had arrived on the international scene and the 'Doctor Who' sample "Exterminate Annihilate Destroy" from the single of the same name remained a staple in every electro club across Europe for years to come. "Welcome to Goodbye'' proved to be a cornucopia of hits. On the following tours, the band not only took audiences in Europe by storm, but their energetic shows also left their mark on the other side of the Atlantic while supporting COVENANT on their US tour. Highly danceable, epic pop tracks with a powerful EBM bite and a massive sound established ROTERSAND firmly as a cornerstone of the electro scene. For these reissues, ROTERSAND and Dependent took a few months to design fitting artwork and worthy content in celebration of these milestones. The gatefold albums will be pressed on 180g vinyl in classic black and limited orange colour. "Songs of Future Memories (1982-2022)" is the long overdue second anthology dedicated to the Swedish pioneers of electronic music, TWICE A MAN. On three CDs, the finest tracks from the 14 song albums have been collected and diligently remastered. The 7 instrumental works of the band's catalogue have been deliberately left out of this project, which is intended to serve as a comprehensive musical guide through the band's outstanding career spanning over 4 decades of groundbreaking works. In addition to the known material, the band has also added two new tracks.

TWICE A MAN never took the easy way. Long before it became fashionable, the Swedes positioned themselves as early environmentalists, which became a theme running through their lyrics but is also reflected in their music, which amalgamates futuristic electronics and organic elements from the start. In their holistic approach of creating a sonic cosmos of their own, the band resembles THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS. Musically, theirs is a different story that been lovingly described as "Ultravox on weed – also melancholic but without the saccharine pathos" or "like a sad Gary Numan, but with a warm, organic touch". There are also gentle echoes of TANGERINE DREAM, KLAUS SCHULZE, and THE HUMAN LEAGUE among many other possible references.

When singer, guitarist, and keyboarder Dan Söderqvist teamed up with synth player Karl Gasleben in 1977, the duo formed COSMIC OVERDOSE as the first electronic band in Scandinavia. Although they sang in Swedish, their two albums created a buzz abroad, which led to COSMIC OVERDOSE being invited to support NEW ORDER on their first Scandinavian tour in 1981.

Being impressed with the band's performance, NEW ORDER's English promoter invited them over to the UK, but he found the name COSMIC OVERDOSE to be too closely related to drugs. This led to a change of band name to TWICE A MAN and the first concert under the new moniker took place in London on the 14th of December 1981.

In hindsight, the artistic contributions and keen interest of TWICE A MAN in environmental issues turns out to be quite prophetic. With our planet moving towards a catastrophe that is driven by human greed and stupidity, it seems that now is the perfect time to rediscover the pioneering work of this Swedish band. The art of TWICE A MAN reconciles electronic technology with the organic and natural. "Songs of Future Memories (1982-2022)" sends a beautiful and strong message to be both heard and enjoyed.

With their sophomore full-length "The Point at Which It Falls Apart" that was released in 1999, British dark synthpop act MESH achieved a breakthrough both artistically and in critical acclaim as well as commercially. In the year of the 25th anniversary of the album, MESH reissue this long out of print milestone in a beautiful artbook edition packed with bonus materials. MESH had been conceived in 1991 when lead singer and guitarist Mark Hockings and keyboardist and vocalist Richard Silverthorn found friendship and mutual common ground, leading to the formation of the band. Their musical partnership has ever since defined MESH's enduring legacy. MESH's creative synergy emerged from a complementary distribution of roles: Richard Silverthorn composed the music, while Mark Hockings penned evocative and profound lyrics, infusing depth and emotion into their soundscapes. BLACK NAIL CABARET have set a musical exclamation mark with their current album "Gods Verging on Sanity" (2020). Despite their planned touring fell victim to the general circumstances, the duo has emerged even stronger from the last two years mainly through rapidly spreading word of mouth.

Their continued growth provides an excellent opportunity to let an early jewel from the band's back catalogue history shine in new splendour: When singer Emèse Árvai-Illes and Krisztián Árvai on keyboards self-released the album "Pseudopop" on their own Dichronaut Records label in 2018, the duo had already successfully fused art, pop, dark harmonies and exciting electronics. Hungarian journalist Mariusz Bari (Planet Damage) awarded the highest score (10)/10 and wrote: "BLACK NAIL CABARET has always been on a journey to perfect itself and this latest album is the perfect proof that they have not lost neither touch, nor control."

What sets BLACK NAIL CABARET remarkably apart from other bands of their genre is a penchant for sexually explicit provocation. The Hungarians not only managed to stay far away from being embarrassing or aiming for cheap thrills, but artistically depict their living BDSM reality framed by high aesthetic standards. Those who prefer to see a frog in the Rohrschach blobs on the album cover should perhaps dare to take a closer look.

In the duo's own words, it sounds like this: "'Pseudopop' is a summary of all the music that had a huge impact on our lives", wrote BLACK NAIL CABARET. "Regardless of style, we just emptied our minds, dropped genres, and let loose. It is a nice hybrid born out of the chaos within both of us and we like to think that our music is avant-garde contemporary pop with dark alternative roots."

"Modernism" is transfiguring electronic music through the prism of Elena’s voice and several collaborations with other musicians into a beautiful kaleidoscope of stylistic colours ranging from EBM, future pop, dark electronic, art pop, and various influences more.
Among the artists that gladly followed Elena's call are KIRLIAN CAMERA mastermind ANGELO BERGAMINI, PROJECT PITCHFORK, SEASURFER, legendary producer JOHN FRYER, who worked with DEPECHE MODE and NINE INCH NAILS alongside many others, JOHN ROX & OXYDION, African singer-songwriter FAKEBA, and guitarist and producer MICHAEL CIRAVOLO (BEAUTY IN CHAOS, HUMAN DRAMA).
"Modernism" in a way is a musical child that was born out of the isolation that was imposed on Northern Italy during the pandemic. Elena trapped into the SPECTRA*Paris songs all the notes that absorb her fears, her astonishment, and her sense of confusion into what she calls "a weird concoction of melancholy and rhythm". Her music is complemented and underlined by the beautiful artwork that accompanies this album.
SPECTRA*Paris was conceived as an electronic rock oriented project in the wake Elena's previous project SIDERARTICA. In 2007 she self-released the ultra-rare promo 3" CD-R limited to 25 copies "Spectra Murder Show" and immediately got picked-up by a label, which led to the acclaimed first album "Dead Models Society (Young Ladies Homicide Club)" hitting the streets in the same year. The debut reached the charts in many countries and went up to gold. Elena followed-up with two successful albums in 2010, "License to Kill" and "Christmas Ghouls". Tracks from these recordings as well as the latest album "Retromachine Betty" (2017) have been used in tv and catwalk soundtracks.
With "Modernism", SPECTRA*Paris chronicle Elena Alice Fossi's prison-break into the freedom that only true art can grant.
